We went to a Filo shop last weekend to top up our supplies and while browsing one of the shelves, I found this…

I was really excited as I just love puto and this became our dessert for the week.

Since I’m cheating by using a ready-mix, I thought I’d do a twist to at least make it better. Since I made this yesterday, Nathan and Hubby finished 3 lanera so I guess I can safely say, it was yummy! =)

My search for the perfect Brownie recipe has been going on since as far as I can remember… Then last week I came across a book in the local library “Brownies” by Linda Collister and my search was over. I tried her classic brownie recipe and it was perfect…crunchy top with a moist and fudgy middle texture and more importantly, it was EASY to make. Love, love, love it! Let me share her recipe with you that I tweaked a bit to suit my taste…

While doing my grocery run with Nathan the other day, I saw these frozen blueberries on sale. I thought I’d make some blueberry cheesecake for this week’s dessert. Unfortunately, I run out of cream cheese so I thought I’d either make muffins or a cake. Since I’ve been baking muffins lately, the idea of a cake is a welcome change.

And this is my dessert for the week…

I saw a photo of a red velvet cupcake and instantly fell in-love with it. =) I knew I had to give it a try no matter what it taste like…to my surprise, it’s a delectable little thing, so yummy and moist.

It’s Valentine’s Day & our little angel is still sick, so as much as we’d love to go out & celebrate we decided to postpone it till he feels better. But I wanted to make the day special for hubby so I thought I’d bake him some muffins he could snack on & bring to work…little did I know he had a surprise up his sleeves as well…got a bunch of beautiful roses! Oh what a lovely Valentine’s.

I thought I’d share the recipe I got from sprinklesofparsley. It was originally a choco chip &  peanut butter muffin but I tweaked it a bit to incorporate our favourite ingredients. Hubby loved it…and I ate two in one sitting =)

Hubby and I celebrated Valentine’s the other day. He gave me this lovely book I’ve always wanted to read. 101 Things to do Before You’re Old and Boring. So on this special day where we remind the people we care about that we love them… I cooked this for my darling husband. =)

VERDICT: He loved it =)

I thought I’d make some “ginataan” since I’ve been craving for it for quite sometime now. I had to coerce my husband to go with me to Paramatta to visit this Filo shop to buy the ingredients. =)  It’s a bit of a travel but worth it. I love grocery shopping =)

So today, to celebrate my last day of freedom before going back to work… I’m making my comfort food… Ginataan with Bilo-Bilo =)

~~~
Everything went well except for the Bilo-Bilo… It didn’t cook quite as well as I thought it would, so I had to cook it separately. Which I ended up not using AT ALL.
It still tasted yummy though and after a few “lambings” my husband said he loved it =)
i had some issues to deal with today. When I got home, I was feeling sick. So I decided to cook something that would heal from from all the tiredness that has consumed my entire being. Chopsuey with grilled chicken and rice, gave me the strength I need to combat the virus in my body. eating watermelon for dessert was the perfect end to a challenging day.
Here’s the recipe for chopsuey:
